- Pair to continue to work on legacy programme at race locations
- DHL has partnered with Formula E since series began
Electric single seater series Formula E has renewed its long-term partnership with logistics firm DHL.
The global brand has had a relationship with Formula E dating back to the series’ inception in 2013 and DHL will continue to transport 415 tons of freight for Formula E annually. That includes all race cars, batteries and charging units, plus all media equipment.
In addition, the partnership includes on and off-track initiatives to highlight the sustainability work DHL and Formula E are doing in the motorsport industry.
DHL will also receive exclusive rights to the DHL and Formula E 'Together Green Award', which recognises local sustainability heroes in race locations globally. A local hero will be recognised at each ePrix, and will accept nominations from individuals and organisations throughout the season.
The winner of the award will be revealed at the end of season dinner in Seoul, South Korea.
Additionally, Formula E and DHL will continue to work on DHL's legacy programme, which aims to benefit local environments at race locations. This includes activities such as tree planting, a city mural using carbon-absorbing paints and participation in community engagement.
"DHL have been an integral partner to Formula E from inception and we are delighted to extend and enhance our collaboration," said Jamie Reigle, Formula E chief executive.
"Transporting the freight is a fundamental aspect to the running of Formula E and DHL continue to do so with a passion for driving forward new sustainable measures which have relevance throughout the logistics industry.
"The new DHL and Formula E Together Green Award will elevate our partnership to a new level by providing a renewed platform to showcase sustainable initiatives at every race weekend. We look forward to working with DHL to set the standard in sustainable logistics for sport and inspire fans around the world to take actions to fight climate change."
