Formula One team Ferrari have announced a new partnership with software firm Qualcomm Technologies ahead of the 2022 season.

As part of the deal, Qualcomm Technologies will become a premium partner of the team, with the logo for its Snapdragon Digital Chassis solution to feature on Ferrari’s F1 car.

The agreement also covers Ferrari's esports team and its road car division. The latter will see the Italian carmaker work with Qualcomm Technologies to utilise Snapdragon to bring new automotive technology advancements to Ferrari road cars.

The Snapdragon Digital Chassis is comprised of open and scalable cloud-connected platforms for next-generation vehicles. This includes telematics and connectivity, the digital cockpit, as well as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) functions. Snapdragon also utilises a unified architecture to deliver enhanced safety and immersive digital experiences that are updateable throughout a vehicle’s lifetime.

Additionally, Qualcomm and its partners will work with Ferrari to design, develop and integrate digital cockpits.

"We believe innovation requires market leaders working together," said Benedetto Vigna, chief executive of Ferrari.

"Thanks to this agreement with Qualcomm Technologies, we expand our knowledge in digital technologies and Web 3.0 areas with great potential for automotive and motorsport. We believe valuable partnerships, and a distinctive Ferrari interpretation, ultimately enhances product excellence."

Elsewhere in Formula One, AlphaTauri have announced a new lubricant partnership with Ravenol.

Ravenol will supply the team with its range of lubricants, hydraulic oils, greases and other industrial supplies and will in turn receive branding on the team's AT03 car and driver race suits.

"It is a pleasure to welcome Ravenol to our team", said Franz Tost, team principal of AlphaTauri.

"It is often overlooked that we, as a Formula One team, are not only racing our cars on track but also producing the individual components of these high-tech machines. We operate our own machine shop here in Italy and use a variety of industrial products, this means we rely on the know-how of a strong partner and Ravenol is able to supply us with a wide range of products to help us extract the maximum performance."
