The Ferrari Formula One team have agreed a multi-year extension with cybersecurity firm Bitdefender.

Confirmed:

  • Bitdefender will have a more visible place on the Ferrari car, as well as more engagement assets across the team’s Formula One environment
  • Company will remain Ferrari’s exclusive worldwide partner and expand its role with deeper technological integration

Context:

In September 2022, Bitdefender became an official team partner of Ferrari before expanding into cybersecurity a year later. Currently, the company’s branding hasn’t been overly obvious on the Ferrari cars of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, with a small logo situated on the left-hand side of the halo. Despite this lack of visibility, the company has clearly seen enough to not only double down on its commitment, but to increase its spend for a better position on the car.

Comment:

“We are pleased to extend our partnership with Bitdefender, a company that shares Ferrari’s values of innovation, excellence and reliability,” said Lorenzo Giorgetti, chief racing revenue officer at Ferrari.

“In a sport where every detail counts, trust is fundamental – and having a partner like Bitdefender by our side allows us to focus fully on our racing activities, knowing that our technology and data are protected by one of the leaders in cybersecurity.”

Coming next:

While not explicitly stated, it’s assumed this deal takes effect immediately as it’s just over three years since the original contract was signed. This comes ahead of this weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix, which takes place at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez from 24th to 26th October.
