F1 and DAZN agree Japanese rights extension until 2025

Subscription service to air all 23 Grands Prix annually.

Formula One has extended its Japanese broadcast partnership with sports media company DAZN until 2025.

Contract:

  • DAZN to broadcast all 23 Grands Prix including practice and qualifying sessions, sprint events and races, as well as highlights
  • DAZN to provide three days of full coverage covering preseason testing in Bahrain
  • Live Formula Two, Formula Three and Porsche Supercup support series coverage included in new deal

Context:

DAZN has been the Japanese broadcast partner for the Formula One series since 2018, with free-to-air broadcaster Fuji TV also airing select races.

Comment:

“As Formula One continues to grow and attract new fans in Asia and around the world, it is vital that the broadcasting of our events is of the highest standard,” said Ian Holmes, director of media rights and content creation at Formula One.  

Coming next:

Japanese fans will be able to tune in for the series’ preseason testing in Bahrain on DAZN when it commences later this week.
