eSkootr Championship announces MBC MENA broadcast deal

eSkootr Championship

MBC Action, a free-to-air (FTA) channel that is part of the MBC Group Middle East and North Africa (MENA) media company, will broadcast live coverage of the eSkootr Championship (eSC) to 23 countries across the MENA region.

When the season begins on 13th to 14th May in London, fans from across the MENA will be able to follow all the action live and through the 90-minute highlight show following race day on MBC Action. The channel will then broadcast the other five rounds of the 2022 season.

MBC Action will use eSC’s own programme, created by Canadian production company Boombox, which includes pre-race build-up, live race commentary, and post-race interviews, highlights, and analysis. The terms and length of the deal have not been disclosed.

“We are delighted to partner with eSC, which is creating a new trend turning micromobility into a competitive sport that is smarter, safer, and more sustainable,” commented Ashraf Younis, director of MBC Action.

“Escooters are the new ‘big thing’ and are becoming a key and environmentally friendly mode of mobility on busy streets in cities. We believe that having eSC on MBC Action will offer a new dimension in sport for our audiences, as we strive to always bring them what is new, relevant, and adrenaline-charged.”

Sharon Fuller, chief content officer at eSC, added: “Motorsport is booming in the Middle East and we are delighted to be working with MBC Action to deliver our revolutionary new series in the region.

“The free-to-air channel targets the Arabic youth audience and is known for its action-packed programming that makes it the ideal fit for eSC’s short format, high-speed racing.

“We can’t wait for the Championship to start at Printworks London on 13th to 14th May where we will showcase our innovative and engaging production with fans from the Middle East and North Africa.”
