E1, the all-electric powerboat championship, has agreed several new and renewed broadcast deals around the world.
Contracts:
- E1 has expanded into the Nordics with Viaplay Group
- New deal agreed with BeIN Sports across the Middle East and Asia Pacific (APAC), adds to renewed deal with MBC in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)
- Further agreements signed with FanCode in India, Tapmad in the wider subcontinent, Setanta Sports across Eurasia, Divisport in Ukraine, Fox Sport Australia, and Sporty Africa
- Several broadcasters sign deals for China, including Huya, Jiangsu and Douyin
Context:
Following E1’s multi-year broadcast deal with sports streaming service DAZN earlier this month, this set of market-specific pacts will seek to expand the championship’s global reach in its sophomore season. The addition of high-profile team owners like LeBron James, who joined fellow sporting greats Tom Brady and Rafael Nadal at the end of January, should also help give the series extra attention.
The broadcast deals add to arrangements with ITV in the UK, CBS in the US, Arena Sport across the Balkans, Livey in Iceland, Globo in Brazil, and S Sport in Turkey.
Comment:
“Our growing broadcast rights holders are important to help us continue to grow our fanbase in the 2025 championship and beyond,” said Rodi Basso, cofounder and chief executive of E1.
“Audiences have been enticed by team owners, including the recently announced Team AluLa Championed by LeBron James, new race locations and even more thrills on the water as we continue to reimagine racing on water.”
Coming next:
E1’s next round is currently listed as ‘TBA’ on its website. The championship’s next confirmed event takes place in Monaco on 19th July.
