E-Xplorer launches first ever mixed-gender and fully-electric motorcycle championship

New series set to reveal official 2023 schedule later this year.

The new all-electric, all-terrain E-Xplorer Championship has officially launched with full International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) backing ahead of a full debut in 2023.

The series held its first test event in September and will look to announce an official 2023 schedule later this year.

Eight of the ten confirmed teams took part and the entire event was powered through zero-emission hydgrogen energy, including the paddock.

Each team will have one male and one female rider, with knockout head-to-head races staged in a relay format that sees both riders competing. In order to advance, a team will have to win two races in each heat.

“E-Xplorer will re-energise motorcycle racing,” said Valentin Guyonnet, founder and chief executive of E-Xplorer.

“Our series aims to inspire the next generation of athletes to freeride the world, a championship where women and men race together for the same world title.”

“The FIM is proud to partner with E-Xplorer and invites all motorcycle manufacturers to join us in this new journey,” said Jorge Viegas, FIM president.

“These test days demonstrate a great future for our sport. FIM will provide all necessary support to ensure its success during its inaugural season and into the future.”
