COTA ties up Cash App deal

Deal with payment platform comes ahead of US Grand Prix.

The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin has partnered with mobile payment service Cash App ahead of Formula One's upcoming US Grand Prix.

As part of the agreement, attendees at the race will receive a 15 per cent refund on any food or beverages purchased through the company's credit card or app.

“COTA is really excited to partner with Cash App on this one-of-a-kind sponsorship and we’re thrilled to offer fans a seamless and instant reward on their food and beverage purchases through Cash App – the best partnerships are the ones that enhance the fan experience and this does just that,” said Scott Wessels, COTA's vice president of commercial partnerships.

The circuit enjoyed a record crowd of 400,000 last year and hopes to exceed that this year, with a new infield viewing grandstand constructed for this weekend. COTA has also announced that it is renaming its final corner after American racing legend Mario Andretti.

COTA's executive chairman Bobby Epstein confirmed to Autosport that the circuit is looking to expand: “Our capacity could be a lot higher, and that’s one thing we’ll look to do over the next few years. The demand in the US right now is incredible, and will absolutely support three races, and could support many more.”
