The British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) has unveiled its 2024 calendar at the earliest point in its history.
Confirmed:
- BTCC announces identical schedule to 2023
- Calendar unveiled just two races into the current season
- Still no place for the Silverstone International Circuit, which was set to join the calendar in 2020
Context: With the early announcement, it’s no surprise to see little change to the 2023 calendar. With both the Paris Olympics and Euro 2024 taking place next summer, BTCC organisers wanted to ensure they could commit to their ideal broadcast schedule with ITV4.
Comment: Alan Gow, chief executive of BTCC, said: “Our 2024 schedule has the same flow as this year, which was universally praised. And going back to the Donington GP circuit next year will ensure that the teams can build upon their experience of that circuit layout from this season.”
Coming next: The third round of the 2023 BTCC season takes place this weekend at Snetterton Circuit from 20th to 21st May.
