  • Netapp to protect team's intellectual property

Aston Martin Cognizant have agreed a multi-year deal with cloud software and data management company Netapp as the Formula One team gear up for the 2021 season.

Data from Netapp will be utilised on and off-track to assist Aston Martin with strategy decisions, gauging performance and making refinements to the car. Netapp will also guarantee data security and full compliance with the team's intellectual property.

The collaboration is designed to see Aston Martin’s IT investment costs reduced, with the potential for those funds to be reinvested in the team.

"Formula One teams have always been pioneers in analysing data for a competitive advantage, especially when milliseconds mean the difference between pole position and starting somewhere in the middle of the pack," said chief officer and team principal, Otmar Szafnauer.

"By empowering our brilliant team of people with NetApp’s industry-leading data solutions, we are ushering in a new era of racing where we can constantly evolve to be a faster, smarter and more exciting team."

The highly anticipated 2021 Formula One season begins on 26th March at Bahrain International Circuit
