The W Series and Puma Motorsport have entered into an apparel partnership.
The deal will see Puma supply high-performance flame-retardant racewear for the women-only motorsport championship’s roster of drivers and reserve drivers.
Dave Ryan, W Series racing director, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Puma to W Series. Puma has an outstanding reputation for quality and technology, and that strongly complements our own mission – to achieve the highest standards of safety and performance for our drivers.”
Puma already has a number of partnerships in place in the world of motorsport. The company supplies Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull in Formula One, while it also has deals in Nascar, IndyCar and Formula E.
“Having a leading product offering for women is one of our strategic priorities and we are excited that W Series allows us to combine this with our successful heritage in motorsports,” added James Clark, head of sports marketing motorsport at Puma. “We are looking forward to elevating talented woman drivers and get them to the pinnacle of racing.”
The W Series is the world’s first all-female single-seater motorsport championship. The hope is that the series will lead to the identification of female talent, grow participation levels amongst women and provide a pathway for female drivers to Formula One.
The six-round series starts in Hockenheim, Germany on the weekend of 3rd and 4th May, with 20 female drivers competing for a US$1.5 million prize fund.
