Nascar’s Richard Childress Racing (RCR) team have announced a new partnership with AstraZeneca, a science-based biopharmaceutical company.

Under the terms of the deal, AstraZeneca’s Symbicort brand will be the primary sponsor of Austin Dillon’s number three Chevrolet Camaro for select races during the top-tier 2018 Nascar Cup Series season. In addition, the brand will be featured on the stock car as an associate partner for the remainder of the season.

The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, but based on similar deals in Nascar, AstraZeneca is likely to be paying between US$400,000 and US$800,000 for each race as a primary sponsor.

“This partnership with Symbicort is special to me and my family,” said Dillon. “We’re looking forward to having its colours on my number three race car for some upcoming races this season.”

Dillon, who is a two-time Nascar champion, currently sits 13th in the Nascar Cup Series standings.
