Michigan-based energy provider Consumers Energy has expanded its partnership with Michigan International Speedway (MIS).
The multi-year deal will see Consumers Energy become the title sponsor of the race track’s annual Nascar Cup Series race, which will be known as the Consumers Energy 400.
The precise length and financial terms of the agreement have not been released, but based on similar deals in Nascar, Consumers Energy is likely to be paying US$1 million each year for the title sponsorship.
“We are excited to expand our collaborative relationship with Consumers Energy,” said MIS president Rick Brenner. “We strive to work with Michigan-based companies like Consumers Energy who continue to give back to the community. We are looking forward to working together to provide our guests an awesome experience each August for many years to come.”
“Consumers Energy is proud to support a great family tradition for Michiganders who enjoy seeing Nascar come to Michigan year after year at MIS,” added Patti Poppe, president and chief executive of Consumers Energy. “We look forward to powering this event and MIS, spurring economic growth for our hometowns.”
This year’s Consumers Energy 400 takes place on 12th August.
