Stock car racing team Hendrick Motorsports have extended their partnership with Nationwide for a further two years.
The deal will see the insurance and financial services company increase its majority sponsorship of Nascar Cup Series driver Alex Bowman and his number 88 team to 20 races per season from 2019 through to the end of the 2020 campaign.
Nationwide is currently the primary sponsor of 19 Cup Series races for the number 88 team. The renewal of the partnership coincides with the announcement that Bowman has signed a one-year contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports through 2020.
“We’re pleased with Alex’s representation of Nationwide – both on and off the track,” said Terrance Williams, Nationwide chief marketing officer. “Our partnership is off to a great start heading into its second year, and he’s quickly built an authentic relationship with the brand that he conveys naturally through talking about our products and services.
“He’s also embraced Nationwide’s philosophy of giving back to the community through his support of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. We look forward to building on this solid foundation.”
“We have such a strong partnership with Nationwide,” added Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. “From doing great things in the community with Nationwide Children’s Hospital to driving significant value back to their business, it’s truly impressive to see how they consistently make the maximum impact with their racing program.”
Elsewhere in Nascar, Stewart-Haas Racing has announced a double deal with Smithfield Foods and Cummins.
Smithfield Foods, a meat processing company, has extended its 30-race primary sponsorship of the number 10 Ford driven by Aric Almirola for the 2019 season.
Meanwhile, Cummins, which designs, manufactures and distributes engines, will return to motorsport with a multi-race sponsorship of Clint Bowyer’s number 14 team.
