Formula One, the world’s elite motorsport series, has announced that Champagne Carbon will be its new official champagne supplier.
The deal will see the French company’s products presented during the podium celebrations at the end of each race weekend. The drivers who finish first, second and third will be given gold, silver and bronze bottles of champagne respectively.
The length of the agreement, which was launched at Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix, was not disclosed. Carbon’s bottles are coated with the same type of carbon fibre used in the manufacture of Formula One cars.
Sean Bratches, managing director of commercial operations for Formula One, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Champagne Carbon as one of our partners. Tradition, mystique, celebration and taste are common characteristics of both Formula One and Champagne Carbon.
“The unique feature of a bottle made with carbon, the material so representative of the amazing technology in our sport, is a further element that makes Champagne Carbon the perfect product for the drivers to celebrate with on a Formula One Grand Prix podium. We are excited about this partnership, which I am sure will develop as we go forward and bring exceptional products to Formula One fans.”
Alexandre Mea, chief executive of Champagne Carbon, added: “The partnership between Champagne Carbon and Formula One is, for us, the perfect fusion of ideas. We share a similar story - of great heritage, the constant pursuit of perfection and a relentless desire to innovate. Both possess rich heritage, both rely on supreme craftsmanship but simultaneously both have always looked to the future. For me, this partnership is a perfect match and means just one thing - the future is now.”
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel won the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday to go 14 points clear at the top of this year’s Formula One drivers’ championship.
