Formula E has announced a long-term partnership with Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia), which becomes the all-electric racing series’ official airline partner.
The agreement comes as the country prepares for its first race in Formula E, which will host the first event in the Middle East in Ad Diriyah – opening the fifth season in December.
Formula E chief executive Alejandro Agag said: “The partnership continues to show the appeal of Formula E on a global scale and I’m proud to welcome Saudia to the Formula E family as the excitement continues to build for the opening round of season five on 15th December.
“When you consider Saudi Arabia is opening up to international sports fans for the first time - and we have a new partner who can connect those fans to our series - it really is a strong addition to the championship.”
Attending fans will be able to use a brand-new verification system launched by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the new Sharek platform, which will allow international tourists to electronically permit entry to the country through its online visa process.
Formula E’s 2018/19 season starts later this year with the Ad Diriyah ePrix, as former Formula One driver Felipe Massa makes his debut for the Venturi team.
