Formula One has announced that Singapore Airlines has extended its title sponsorship of the Singapore Grand Prix for another two years.
The Asian country’s national airline first became the night race’s title partner in 2014 for an initial two years, before renewing the deal for the 2016 and 2017 editions. The new agreement will run until 2019.
The news comes shortly after Singapore committed to hosting a Formula One race for a further four years, having first staged a Grand Prix in 2008.
“We are delighted to have Singapore Airlines partner us once more as title sponsor for the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix,” said Singapore Grand Prix chairman Teo Hock Seng. “The partnership over the last four years has been a key component in the success of the night race.
“The Singapore night race is the highlight of Singapore’s sporting calendar and we are thrilled to continue as its title sponsor,” said Singapore Airlines chief executive Goh Choon Phong. “We look forward to showcasing this event to the world and enhancing both tourism and sports for the benefit of Singaporeans and visitors alike.”
“Formula One is delighted to extend its relationship with Singapore Airlines,” added Formula One chief executive Chase Carey. “The strength of Singapore as a destination is an example of the excitement Formula One is creating around the globe and having prestigious partners such as Singapore Airlines shows our ambitious vision is shared by the market leading companies around the world.”
This year’s Singapore Grand Prix takes place on 16th September at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
