The Formula One global motorsport series has announced a season-long collaboration with digital subscription platform Netflix.
The partnership will see the 2018 Formula One season become the subject of a ten-episode Netflix original docuseries, which will be screened in early 2019.
The agreement will give Netflix exclusive access to drivers, team principals and owners, as well as Formula One’s management team. Viewers will be treated to behind-the-scenes coverage inside the cockpits and the paddock, following the lives of the key influencers in the sport.
The series is being produced by Paul Martin and Academy Award winner James Gay Rees, who is renowned for putting together 2010 documentary Senna about the life and death of Brazilian Formula One great Ayrton Senna.

“This is a perspective of the sport that has yet to be unveiled to fans around the world. This series will unleash a compelling vantage point to the sport that will delight fans and serve as a catalyst to entice new fans.”

The partnership with Formula One represents Netflix’s latest venture in sports, after it agreed similar deals last year with Italian soccer champions Juventus and Argentinian soccer giants Boca Juniors.
The collaboration was unveiled ahead of Sunday’s season-opening Australian Grand Prix, which saw Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel pip reigning champion Lewis Hamilton to victory in Melbourne.
