Twelve-time Nascar Cup Series winners Hendrick Motorsports have extended their partnership with soft drink brand Mountain Dew.
The renewal of the deal between the motorsport team and the PepsiCo-owned drink will see the partnership continue until 2020. As part of the agreement, Hendrick driver Chase Elliott, 22, will take Mountain Dew as his primary sponsor for four Cup series races per year, while the drinks brand will remain an associate sponsor in all other events.
Elliott and Mountain Dew have worked together since 2016, when the driver was named as the rookie of the year.
Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports, said: “Like the Elliott family, Mountain Dew has a tremendous legacy in racing. Chase's performance on the track, lifestyle off the track and popularity with the fans make him a perfect fit for the brand.
“This new agreement will take our association with PepsiCo into our 24th season together. We're extremely proud of our partnership and look forward to the many great opportunities ahead.”
Justin Faiber, sports marketing senior manager at PepsiCo, added: “Chase Elliott is becoming one of the biggest superstars in the world of racing, and we're excited to continue to bring his genuine personality to Dew Nation through our partnership with Hendrick Motorsports. We can't think of a better driver to represent the brand's future in the sport than Chase.”
PepsiCo, the American beverage corporation, has been associated with the Hendrick Motorsports brand since 1997, when Pepsi acted as a sponsor of four-time champion Jeff Gordon. Mountain Dew also sponsored Hendrick driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., who retired in 2017.
