Motorsport’s World Rally Championship (WRC) has announced a multi-year partnership with Anonimo ahead of the series’ opening round of 2018 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
The Italian watchmaker will be the official timekeeper of the WRC, which will be contested over 13 three-day rounds between January and November. The partnership will be officially launched at this weekend’s Monte Carlo Rally, and Anonimo will create a bespoke WRC watch to celebrate and promote the collaboration.
“The excitement in rallying comes from the battles fought against the clock and accurate timekeeping defines what WRC is all about,” said Oliver Ciesla, managing director of the WRC. “We welcome Anonimo to the championship and I’m delighted such a prestigious brand, with such popular collections as Militare and Nautilo, has chosen to add the WRC to its portfolio.”
“Anonimo wants to grow its brand and reach out to new audiences and a partnership with WRC is a natural step in this direction,” added Julien Haenny, chief executive of Anonimo. “As a brand which focuses on the same target group of passionate connoisseurs as WRC, Anonimo wants to create more awareness of its brand and watches among people who are not Swiss watch aficionados.
“It is also a natural means of communication by reaching a large number of people through the excitement and spectacular nature of WRC.”
The Monte Carlo Rally gets underway on 25th January before wrapping up on the 28th.
